VPN Proxy Setup

TikMatrix includes a built-in VPN proxy feature that routes all internet traffic from each Android device through your own SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy server. Because the VPN runs at the system level, every app on the device — including TikTok — uses the proxy automatically without any per-app configuration.

What you need

  • A SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy server. You can purchase a residential proxy IP or set up your own VPS proxy. See the Set Up Proxy guide if you need help obtaining one.
  • The proxy host (IP address or domain), port number, and optionally a username and password.

Configure VPN proxy for a device

  1. Open Manage Devices in the TikMatrix desktop app and switch to the table view.
  2. Find the device you want to configure and locate the VPN Proxy column.
  3. Click the settings icon (⚙) in the VPN Proxy column to open the configuration dialog.
  4. Fill in the form:
    • Proxy type: choose SOCKS5 (recommended) or HTTP depending on what your proxy provider supports.
    • Host: enter the proxy server IP address or domain name.
    • Port: enter the port number provided by your proxy service.
    • Username and Password: enter credentials if your proxy requires authentication. Leave blank for open proxies.
  5. Click Save and Start. TikMatrix will automatically request the necessary VPN permission on the device, apply the configuration, and start the VPN service.

Start and stop the VPN

  • To start the VPN after it has been stopped, click the green (play) button in the VPN Proxy column next to the device.
  • To stop the VPN, click the red (stop) button, or open the configuration dialog and click Stop.
  • The status badge shows Running (green) when the VPN is active or Stopped (gray) when it is not.

Batch start / stop

When multiple devices are selected in the table:

  1. Use the Batch Start VPN button in the toolbar to start the VPN on all selected devices at once.
  2. Use the Batch Stop VPN button to stop all selected devices at once.

Verify the public IP

Once the VPN is running, you can confirm that the device is using your proxy's IP address:

  1. The VPN Proxy column shows the detected public IP address next to the device.
  2. Click the globe icon (🌐) to refresh the displayed IP at any time.
  3. You can also open the configuration dialog — the public IP is shown there as well.

If the proxy connection fails, a warning badge appears in the column with a short error message. Hover over it to read the full error.

Common questions

  • Does TikMatrix need to install a separate VPN app? No. TikMatrix uses the Android system VPN service built into every Android device. No third-party VPN app is required.
  • Will LAN / local network traffic go through the proxy? No. Only public internet traffic is routed through the VPN. Local network addresses (such as 192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x) bypass the proxy.
  • Do I need to reconfigure the proxy after restarting the device? TikMatrix stores the configuration automatically. You only need to start the VPN again after a device restarts; the proxy settings are preserved.
  • The VPN starts but apps still use the original IP. What should I do? Make sure the proxy server is reachable from the device. Check the host, port, and credentials. Use the globe icon to refresh the public IP and confirm the device is going through your proxy.
  • Can I use a different proxy for each device? Yes. Each device has its own independent VPN proxy configuration.
